We had our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 21st with an excellent turnout of residents. We also have to thank our Mayor Hazel McCallion, Carmen Corbasson Ward 1 Councilor and our MPP Charles Souse for their presentations and fielding questions from the residents.

Neighbourhood Watch Program meeting was on July 22, 2010-  It was held to a FULL HOUSE. We had presentations from SafeCity Mississauga & the Peel Regional Police discussing OUR Community Safety Issues. We are working on signing up at least 50% of the community.

Our Board of Directors has decided that our website should highlight our local community but also what we consider as Mississauga South.

Our Annual SHORA Community Picnic was held on Saturday June 12th ,2010. We had an excellent turn out of residents and their families. We have to give a special thank you to Canyon Creek for their kind donation. We also have to thank all those who sponsored the picnic and those volunteers that ran the races and the other children’s activities. This year again we had Magic Marcus our popular magician with his animals and birds that entertained everyone for about an hour. We also have to thank Cormac and his team for putting this all together.

Port Credit is turning 175 years old and is planning a number of events to celebrate over the next year. Check out their web-site at www.portcredit175.ca . Lots of fun activities are planned.

Residential Front Garden Contest, by STREETSCAPE MISSISSAUGA IN BLOOM: The City of Mississauga is holding a competition for all residents of Mississauga where you register your information to compete for the Residential Front Garden Contest. Our Annual SHORA Community Picnic is just around the corner. This year we have Magic Marcus entertaining the children and some adults with his animals and magic happenings. The bouncing castles are back, games and races are also happening. This year our special restaurant “Canyon Creek” will be supplying and preparing the food.

Our giant draw for dozens of prizes will also be happening. We are also still looking for donations for the draw. Picnic date is Saturday June 12th from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm at our community park.

Neighbourhood Watch Program is being created in our community. We need everyone to support the program for it to be successful. Our program started at our Annual General Meeting back in September. We had a full house at our AGM that showed the support for this new program. Our residents are invited to contact us for additional details.

3-1-1 Service will start in Mississauga & Peel on October 5th, 2009. It will give you easy access to the City of Mississauga and Region of Peel information, programs and services. Officials at GlaxoSmithKline now believe that their H1N1 vaccine will only require one dose. Initially GSK thought that it would require 2 doses, three weeks apart to protect Canadians against the H1N1 flu.

COMMUNITY NOTICE: It was brought to our attention that over the weekend a resident reported that his wife & daughter were followed and harassed while riding their bikes in our community. Please talk to your families and let them know how to handle strangers. This family reported it to the police by calling 911 and got a quick response. Please be careful.
