THE FUTURE OF SHORA
The SHORA (Sherway Homeowners & Recreation Association) Board convened a special Board Meeting on Tuesday, October 13 to address the lack of a SHORA Executive for the upcoming year.
The SHORA Constitution and Bylaws states:
1.1 The Executive of the Association shall consist of a President, Vice President, and Secretary who shall be elected by the Board of Directors from amongst themselves immediately following each Annual General Meeting.
As a new SHORA year begins, we find ourselves in a state of limbo.
With two of the three Executive positions vacant (President and Vice-President), there is no SHORA Executive in place for the 2010-2011 year; therefore, the SHORA Executive & Board will be in a dormant position until such time as we can find homeowners willing to take on these vacant positions.
Two of the existing committees, Neighbourhood Watch and Insect Control Committee, will continue to function. However, since the position of Recreation Director is also vacant, we may not have our Annual SHORA Picnic in 2011 unless we get help very soon. Other items that will not continue include the annual General Meeting, with our political leaders updating us on what is happening. There will also be no central listing or contact person with the City of Mississauga for the SHORA community, no new SHORA newsletters and no updates to the SHORA website.
We are asking our local homeowners to please come to SHORA’s assistance and volunteer for a position on the SHORA Board.
If you would be willing to hold a position on the SHORA Board, or for more information on the Board positions, please contact Alex Banks (Past President) at banksa48@rogers.com.
Thank you,
Alex Banks
